The Omotesenke school is the oldest of the three Japanese "senke" tea schools. Our culture and traditions, wisdom and techniques, have been carefully passed down for more than 430 years and 15 generations--from the founder Sen-no-Rikyu (1522-1591) and his first successor, Shoan Soju, to the current headmaster, Sen Sosa. Tea practice is all about preparing and serving a delicious bowl of tea--a shared act between guest and host embodying the spirit of zen, the attitude of grace and tranquility, and the warmth of hospitality. Our international team enjoys the big city access to the world in order to share the spirit and richness of chanoyu culture.
